In December of 2018, the Daviess County Fiscal Court passed a resolution authorizing the creation of the Daviess County Complete Count Committee for the 2020 U.S. Census.
Join us as we work towards a complete and accurate count of every Owensboro-Daviess County resident in the 2020 census.
The Daviess County Complete Count Committee's (DCCCC) work to ensure that every Daviess County resident was counted in the 2020 US Census officially concluded on September 30. Thanks to your strong support, the DCCCC did an outstanding job in promoting the importance of this year's Census to the future of our community. In the past six months, Daviess County was regularly cited by Governor Beshear for being one of Kentucky's leading counties in its self-response rate to this year's Census.
While the DCCCC's role in the 2020 US Census has concluded, the impact of the Census on our community will continue throughout the next decade. To that end, we expect to use our website and Facebook page as vehicles for sharing the final Owensboro-Daviess County results of the 2020 US Census.
Chad Gesser created and maintained the DCCCC's website and Facebook page, and he was the architect of its social media strategy. His multiple contributions to our work were a major factor in our success, and his knowledge and understanding of census data and its importance are a great resource for our community.
Chad, as many of you know, is Associate Professor of Sociology at Owensboro Community and Technical College. Going forward, he is volunteering his time to modify our website and Facebook page to reflect our move from the 2020 US Census count to a new focus on the multiple applications of this data for our community. This is likely to include a change in logo and related branding activities so as not to reflect representation of the DCCC and its member entities. Lastly, he expects to sunset the odccensus@gmail.com account.
Looking ahead to 2021, Chad anticipates using our website and Facebook page to draw attention to local demographics and other information of importance to our community at- large. If you have any questions going forward, please direct them to chad.gesser@kctcs.edu. He will provide a final email for anyone who has an interest in updates from the 2020 US Census and being kept apprised of our efforts going forward.
